Hey Jedox friends! 👋

If you are already playing with version 25.1, you may have noticed two cool things:
➡️ Native Chart component on Canvas
➡️ New Themes feature in Administration

And if you haven’t yet—no worries! That’s why we have this blog 😄 I will show you step-by-step what is new, what is possible now, and why this is super cool, especially for beginners who want to make nice-looking dashboards without coding.

Native Chart on Canvas – What is that?

Before, if you wanted to show a chart in Canvas, you had to create it in a spreadsheet report and then show the full report inside Canvas. It was not very flexible, and charts were not really part of Canvas directly.

But now — you can add a chart just like a label or image. It’s a real Canvas component 💪
You can resize it, move it, copy it, all inside the Canvas itself. No need to switch between reports.

Here’s what it looks like:

👉 Click “Add Component” in Canvas
👉 Choose Chart
👉 Link it to your view/dataset
👉 Done!

It supports Bar and Line, and more are planned for the future — all native.

Themes – One Place to Set Colors & Fonts

Another new feature in 25.1 is the Themes section in Administration.

What you can do there:

  • Set your color palette 🎨
  • Set your fonts and font sizes
  • Configure spacing, shadows, backgrounds, and more

And the magic is:
If you create a Theme and set it as default, then all new dashboards and components — including our new native charts — will automatically use that style.

So no more clicking 100 times to set the same color. Just set once in theme, and enjoy.

How to Connect Themes and Native Charts

Let me show you how it works together. It’s simple:

  1. Go to Administration → Themes
  2. Create or edit a Theme
    • Set primary and secondary colors
    • Choose font family (for example, “Roboto” or “Open Sans”). You can download from here https://www.dafont.com/.
  3. Set the theme as Default.
  4. Open a Canvas and add a native chart
  5. The chart will automatically use the colors and fonts from your theme! ✨

And of course, you can still adjust some styling inside the chart itself (like axis labels or legend), but the base styling comes from your theme. So things stay consistent and professional looking .

Benefits of Native Charts on Canvas

Here’s why I love this new feature:

  • Much faster to build dashboards
  • No need to create charts in reports anymore
  • Everything is in one place – full WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get)
  • Looks great with your company theme
  • Easier for beginners to learn
  • Clean, modern design out of the box

Also, for big screens or presentations, charts are more responsive and don’t break when you resize. 🙌

🛠 My Tips for Beginners

  • Start small: one chart + one theme.
  • Use themes for consistent design (and less stress!). https://coolors.co/ Cool website for matching color patterns.
  • Combine charts with KPIs and labels to make clean Canvas dashboards.
  • Play with the color palette to match your company branding.
  • Use a bar chart for comparisons, a line chart for trends.
